Athar Torabi has composed music for concerts, dramas, films, dances, music to accompany Persian poetry, and has made recordings on CD.
He composes for Persian instruments as well as for the western instruments.
His researches has enabled him to compose music for the old Persian texts such as the Gathas of Zaratushtra (Zoroaster).
One of the innovations of Athar is to revive an old instrument called "Kâssât" (musical bowls). We know that this instrument was used in Persia at least until the 15th century because A. Gheibi known also as Hafez Maraghi speaks about it in his book "Maghâsedol Alhan".
